Drift vs. Growth

Author and Pastor, Bill Hybels writes in his latest book, Axiom: Powerful Leadership Proverbs, “The nature of human beings is such that we tend not to drift into better behavior.  We usually have to be asked by someone to consider taking it up a level.”  This is a humbling yet very relevant statement.  Too often we wait to be asked before making tough decisions to grow. Our growth becomes reactive rather than proactive, externally dependent rather than intrinsically motivated, emotionally pursued rather than strategically executed.  What about you?  Are you growing or drifting?  Don’t wait to be asked to accelerate your performance–take initiative, move out of drift mode, and activate your growth.
